I had the chance to send Barry some questions about Owt through email, Let's get into the interview !

 

 

 

Hello Barry, thanks for giving Querier.net the chance to interview you, Please tell us more about yourself and your experience as a web developer.

My name is Barry McMillen and I am currently unemployed but I
expect to get a job in February when I move to Washington State.  I am
still a beginner php programmer, I understand what it does once I use
it but its really hard for me to make new stuff.



What is OwT PHP Contact Form? and why did you create it?

OwT PHP Contact Form is an easily installable contact form written
in php. It includes Javascript features including pop-up help, field
highlighting and both javascript and php form field validation.  I
created it originally for my mother as an Ebay order customization
form ( she sells baby shower favors and needed a way to easily collect
order customization information. )  A few months ago I read a post
asking how to make a contact form, so I just used the same template I
used for my mother but only had the basic contact form inputs in it. I
offer custom contact forms of any kind and integration into your
existing templates and forms. I only ask for donations because I am
planning on building a homeless shelter and all donations will go
towards that.



What What technologies or software are you using?

I am using PHP Designer 2008 for all my programming I'm not much of
a designer so I use Front Page and use tables, I know, yuck.



Are you planning to add more features to OwT PHP Contact Form?

Currently I am putting together a very easy to use integration
package, so you would be able to add my contact form code into your
existing template or form. I will be doing updates when needed after
that, but no new features for a while unless someone requests a
feature that I think would be good in it.



What is your design philosophy?

My design philosophy is to make it work no matter what it looks like :)



How would you describe the shift that’s occurring with the web right now to future generations?

It's kind of scary, because everything and everyone is on the net.
I remember back in my childhood if you weren't in the phonebook no one
could find you. Viva La Digital Age!!



As a web developer, Can you tell us what you think about Querier.net? The idea? The design?

I think Querier.net is really cool, will give people a chance to
get to know the story behind a website and the people involved.




My favorite question, What do you know now that you wish you'd
known 10 years ago?

First thing I would do is beat the crap out of myself for getting 2
credit cards when I turned 18. Other than that I wish I would have
done alot better in school and went to college and that I learned
programming.
